Saori Yano - Answer (2012) Hi-Res

This fan-request album marks Yano's 10th anniversary, returning her to her roots. Reexamining herself and arriving at the answer—since her shocking debut at the tender age of 16 in September 2003, Yano Saori has brought a breath of fresh air to the jazz world. To date, she has released nine albums, including a greatest hits album, and will celebrate her 10th anniversary in September 2012. The first release of her anniversary year is a fan-voted request album. To best express her gratitude to her fans for their continued support over the past decade, Yano conducted online and live performance polls, selecting the tracks for the album from those results. All tracks, including those previously included on albums, are newly recorded. The highlights are undoubtedly the two tracks she performed with Terumasa Hino (tp), "A Night in Tunisia" and "You Do Like Whisky, Don't You?". While countless covers and rearrangements of these songs exist, Yano has chosen to borrow Hino's wisdom and take a stoic approach, free of any gimmicks. His approach of carefully selecting the right sounds and refining his phrasing is certainly something that he has been searching for for 10 years.
