‘House of Bones’ is the sometimes whimsical, sometimes profound creation of Hadrian Waters and Rosemary Griffith, otherwise known as Hawkhead. Most of their songs are co-written by the two: Hadrian creates the guitar parts and then Rosemary adds the lyrics and vocals. Featuring the occasional uniquely arranged ‘Traditional’, plus songs written with a little help from their friends, its soundscapes range from pared-back acoustic moments to euphoric beats.

Aimed at the folk crowd, this album touches on earthy themes of nature and the seasons, shifting tides and life shifts. You will encounter various characters, such as the woman whose house is made entirely of nature finds: bones, wild bird feathers, cattle dung. Or the lad who is trying to stay out of trouble, but comes across a dead knight while he’s roaming the Yorkshire moors with his Bradford gang. Join these humble individuals as they go about their daily lives, suspended for a musical moment in time, like mosquitos in amber.
