Afro-Cuban All Stars - Distinto, diferente (1999)

Distinto, diferente is the second studio album by the Cuban band Afro-Cuban All Stars, released in 1999. Produced by Juan de Marcos González, the album continues his vision of uniting musicians from different generations. The title, meaning "distinct, different," reflects the album's eclectic content. Unlike the more traditional Buena Vista Social Club, the Afro-Cuban All Stars blend classic Cuban music styles like son, danzón, and bolero with more modern genres, including timba and Afro-Cuban jazz. The album features a stellar lineup of musicians, many of whom also participated in the Buena Vista Social Club project, including Rubén González, Omara Portuondo, Manuel "Puntillita" Licea, Félix Valoy, and more.
