This is a really solid alternative R&B EP. Cautious Clay has a real gift with his musicality and soaring voice. Songs like "Settler's Paradise" and "Honest Enough" use ambient background vocals to add to the beat, and also show off Cautious Clay's harmonization skills. The EP is also really driven by guitar, notably in "Sidewinder" and "Something For Nothing". "Saturday Morning Cartoons" might be the best track on the EP. Cautious Clay and UMI's vocals blend so well together and propel the triple meter, it's just so perfect how well the song is crafted. People might say this EP all kind of sounds the same and is pretty slow, and I guess I agree, but I think Cautious Clay just has a gift of being able to build a song over its duration. The EP is gorgeous and there is not one weak point, originally I was going to compare it to a Twin Shadow or Daniel Caesar record, but it really is a unique type of sound.
