Trio Kazanchis - Amaratch Musica (2012)

Ethiopian groove revisited by a powerful trio composed of Mèssèlè Asmamaw with his smooth voice and funky, electrifying, Hendrix-esque krar (traditional Ethiopian lyre) playing, Fabien Duscombs, the already well-known drummer from Le Tigre (des Platanes), and Jeroen Visser, a multi-instrumentalist from the Dutch punk scene of the 1980s. The haunting, black-and-white music of this explosive opus can also be listened to in a crowded, sweaty, and stifling venue.
