Neville Marcano - The Growling Tiger of Calypso (2025)

This album is a compilation of landmark recordings by Neville Marcano, known as The Growling Tiger—one of the pioneers and greatest masters of Calypso from Trinidad. The compilation features his classic works recorded in the 1930s and 1940s, during the so-called "golden age" of Calypso. The Growling Tiger was renowned for his unique talent as a storyteller and a sharp social commentator. His songs, delivered with characteristic wit and wordplay, addressed a wide range of topics: from poverty and class inequality ("Money is King") to global politics and anti-colonial sentiments ("The Gold in Africa").
