"Despite the obvious links between these two repertoires, very few projects bringing together Western jazz musicians and traditional African musicians succeed in fusing these musical styles. African Jazz Roots is one of them! The music composed by the famous drummer Simon Goubert, and illuminated by Ablaye Cissoko's Kora, is both a tribute to the jazz of John Coltrane and to traditional Senegalese Sabar. It's a music that highlights the common musical foundations of both languages."
