Jamile - Pursuit of a Pulse (2025) [Hi-Res]

“Pursuit of a Pulse” is Brazilian vocalist and composer Jamile’s third album, recorded with pianist Miki Yamanaka’s trio and featuring saxophonist Steve Wilson. Centered on the ethos of “giving flowers while people are still alive,” it pays tribute to living jazz innovators. The repertoire includes works by Geri Allen, two Herbie Hancock compositions, a reimagined Olivier Messiaen chorale, and Jamile’s own pieces. The music blends bolero, samba, modern jazz, and acoustic reinterpretations of originally electric songs, showcasing the ensemble’s synergy and Jamile’s balance between her Brazilian roots and forward-looking jazz artistry.
