Jodeci - The Show, The After Party, The Hotel (Expanded Edition) (2025)

This third – and final – Jodeci album sees the group taking a new direction. New Jack Swing is no longer in vogue, and the four brothers are heading toward something more R&B. The tracks “Freek’n You,” “Love U for Life,” and “Get on Up” enjoy immediate success. Two songs are co-produced by a newcomer… by the name of Timbaland: “Bring on da Funk” and “Time & Place.”

This album is a kind of staging where the erotic theme is clearly brought to the forefront. Through spoken parts, interludes, and their songs, they tell the story of an evening — from the first sparks of seduction to the night when the adventure continues.

The first part of this three-act album (The Show) is an invitation to a carnal adventure. With tracks like “Bring on da Funk” and “Fun 2Nite,” the evening begins with sexy groove and funk, perfect for the dance floor. The seduction operation is thus launched. This first part of the night ends with the track “S-More,” co-written by Missy Elliott, who would soon make a name for herself.

The evening continues with The After Party: the mood stays danceable with “Get on Up” and becomes more intimate with “Can We Flo?”.

The rest of the night takes place at the hotel (The Hotel). The singers no longer hide their intentions or heightened senses with “Let’s Do It All” and “Pump It Back.” Two sensual ballads follow (“Freek’n You” and “Time & Place”). Love still has its place in this night with their declaration “Love U 4 Life.” A more acoustic-sounding track, “Good Luv,” also makes an appearance, closing the album.

True to themselves, Jodeci make this album a concentrate of seduction, fantasies, and eroticism. They push their desires and their demons to the limit.
