Composer João Marcondes will release the album Afro-Brazilian Suite Ancestrality for Harp, Cello, and Clarinet on digital platforms on September 19th, through the Azul Music label. On the album, his work is performed by Sole Yaya (harp), Marialbi Trisolio (cello), and Ovanir Buosi (clarinet).

The album is a call to ancestry, a musical exploration that seeks not only to understand our origins, but to inhabit them, defend them, and revere them. In nine tracks, the album conveys a profound and historically neglected Brazil, where memory endures through art. The composer revisits the African and Indigenous roots that forged our culture, creating a symbiosis between past and present, between tradition and innovation.

Afro-Brazilian Suite Ancestrality (OPUS 68) is written for an unusual trio of harp, cello, and clarinet, echoing ancestral drums, Yoruba voices, and native laments. Amidst pizzicatos and choppy melodies, we hear a people's cry for survival, the spiritual cadence of a country shaped by pain, but also by creative resilience.

Harpa – Sole Yaya
