Odysseys in Electric Carnatic is the first full-length vinyl release by the Mandolin Sisters, recorded at Kodhandapani Studio in Chennai, India. The album features seven tracks on vinyl and one bonus track in the digital edition, presenting interpretations of classic ragas from the Carnatic tradition. Musicians Sreeusha and Sireesha, who have devoted over a quarter century to playing the mandolin in South Indian classical music, blend deep tradition with improvisation and contemporary energy. Their style is inspired by the legacy of U. Srinivas, who introduced the mandolin to Carnatic music. The record reflects both the strict frameworks of the genre and the duo’s personal creative exploration, with each performance shaped by the improvisational nature of the style.
