Magandjin/Brisbane indie-pop trio Platonic Sex are stepping into a bold new era, announcing their long-awaited debut album Face to the Flywire, set for release on Friday, 19th September. To mark the moment, they’ve dropped the title track — a slow-burning, soul-spilling cut they’ve dubbed their “most intimate song to date”.
It also marks a raw and reflective moment from singer-guitarist Bridget Brandolini (they/them), who wrote the song from the memory banks of their childhood — squished up against the flyscreen of a storm-soaked Queensland, trying to feel something real. “The words ‘face to the flywire’ are really special to me,” they say. “They represent a feeling of being on the inside and pushing out, wanting to escape, to grow.”
