The Drag City label is re-issuing "Land of Plenty," the debut album from the guitar duo Bill MacKay and Ryley Walker, originally recorded in 2015. The record was the result of their meeting and shared love for diverse musicians such as Bert Jansch, Nick Drake, Jimi Hendrix, and Ali Akbar Khan. The album is a live recording of the hypnotic and virtuosic interplay between the two guitarists, whose parts, often separated into different stereo channels, create a unified musical flow. The duo's music blends genres and geographical influences, moving from dynamic passages to extended meditations. Thanks to the chemistry between the musicians and the rich sound of various guitars, "Land of Plenty" stands out as a prominent example of contemporary instrumental folk.
