Evelyne / Masao - Testpattern (1982)

The label Dark Entries presents a previously unreleased album from the project Testpattern, comprising 17 tracks recorded between 1984 and 1985. These recordings were created by Masao Hiruma (a member of the original Testpattern) as a duo with French-American singer Evelyne Bennu, following the release of their cult album 'Après-Midi'. The music continues to develop the signature style of sophisticated and minimalist Japanese electronics, combining the influence of YMO with the more eccentric and punk elements of European synth-pop. Evelyne's vocals range from deadpan New Wave to expressive chanson, giving the sound a unique character.
