Dame Olivia Newton-John, AC, DBE (26 September 1948 – 8 August 2022) was a four-time Grammy Award-winning English-Australian singer and actress, a Commander of the Order of the British Empire and a Member of the Order of Australia, and the most successful English-language singer of the 1970s, based on record sales and chart time. Her film and music career began in the mid-1960s. She was of Welsh and German descent, born in Britain, raised in Australia, and lived in the United States for decades. She identified herself as Australian.
