The new album from The Fishermen Three, a project by Simon Beins and Raphi Gottesman, was created after a long hiatus when Beins had accumulated numerous unrecorded songs. Despite their geographical distance, the duo assembled a team of musicians from the Bay Area music scene and recorded the basic tracks live to analog tape in Oakland. Work on the album continued for months with contributions from many notable guests, including Jack Johnson and members of The War on Drugs and The Wave Pictures. The result is a record that blends anti-folk, hypnagogic pop, and soulful americana. It's a meditation on human emotions where sun-faded retro-pop sits alongside poignant ballads, with a sound reminiscent of artists like Bill Callahan and Bob Dylan during his "John Wesley Harding" era.
