The Garment District's second album, "Flowers Telegraphed to All Parts of the World," led by Jennifer Baron (ex-The Ladybug Transistor), is a sonic "cabinet of curiosities" filled with textured and multi-layered arrangements. Recorded during the pandemic, the album serves as a kaleidoscope of pop music history, skillfully weaving together influences from the '60s (psychedelia, baroque pop), '70s (funk, disco), and '80s (synth-pop, new wave) into a cohesive, contemporary tapestry. Featuring rich instrumentation with strings, horns, and vintage analog synthesizers, along with vocals by Jennifer's cousin, Lucy Blehar, the record sounds both familiar and entirely unique. It is a whimsical, inventive, and idiosyncratic work that manages to be both radio-friendly and deeply experimental.
