Snakeskin, Fadi Tabbal, Julia Sabra - We live in sand (2025)

The Lebanese duo Snakeskin presents their third, darkest, and rawest album, "We Live In Sand." The record was written in October 2024 as the war in Gaza reached Beirut, becoming a direct musical testimony to these tragic events. Snakeskin's music has always served as an archive of their country's turmoil, but this time, the violence is no longer in the background. The album explores the duality of reality, where fragile hope breaks through the rubble, and the central question is posed in the chorus: "How to love in the face of this death?" The album's sound, crafted by Fadi Tabbal and complemented by Julia Sabra's otherworldly vocals, ranges from glitchy, fractured electronics to melancholic pop and mournful piano motifs. "We Live In Sand" is an honest and urgent document of its time, offering no comfort or resolution, but rather bearing witness to what it's like to keep living, loving, and grieving while the world falls apart.
