Al Muirhead, a distinguished Canadian jazz trumpeter, is celebrating his 90th birthday with the release of a new album, 'Still Cookin’ at 90 - The Canada Sessions Vol. 2.' Recognized as one of Canada's elder statesmen of jazz, Muirhead began his professional career at age 10 and has collaborated with renowned artists such as Dizzy Gillespie and Diana Krall. Despite a long and successful career as a sideman and the recipient of numerous awards, he only began his solo recording career at age 79, immediately earning a JUNO nomination. Muirhead remains a key figure in the Western Canadian jazz scene, serving as the solo trumpeter for the Calgary Jazz Orchestra and mentoring young musicians.
