Remon Nakanishi is one of the brightest stars of Japan's minyo and Bon Odori music scene, especially known as a singer of Goshu Ondo, which is the ballad songs sung at Bon Odori (summer festivals where people dance) around Kansai area. In this groundbreaking album he sings minyo from Tohoku and Hokkaido, Northern parts of Japan, and old songs of Echigo Goze, the female blind minstrel singers. All eleven songs are accompanied in various styles, backed up with musicians playing drums, bass, guitars, marimba, tabla, trumpet etc., and the incredible chorus works somewhat sound like that of Eastern Europe.
