Author's concert on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Miljenko Prohaska

During a musical career spanning seven decades, double bassist, composer, arranger and jazz orchestra leader Miljenko Prohaska left an exceptional mark on Croatian musical creativity. In addition to numerous awards and recognitions at festivals and competitions, he is the winner of the "Josip Štolcer Slavenski" Award, the "Vladimir Nazor" Award for lifetime achievement, two medals of the City of Zagreb and the Porin Award for lifetime achievement. He was decorated with the Order of Labor with a Golden Wreath, the Order of Merit for the People and the Order of the Croatian Dawn.
A vast musical opus that extends from jazz to fun melodies, musical and stage works, film scores, works for wind, jazz, revue and tamburica orchestras, to chamber music, make Miljenko Prohaska a unique personality in Croatian music, and certainly one of the most significant Croatian jazz composers. He
is the only Croatian author of music for jazz orchestras whose compositions and arrangements have become part of the standard world repertoire. His Intima is the most played jazz composition by a Croatian author, the only Croatian jazz composition that has been included among the world's jazz standards, and has been performed and recorded by numerous prominent musicians in the world.

In addition to the concert of Prohaska's original compositions and arrangements for jazz orchestra, the accompanying program will also include a screening of a short documentary about his life and a photo exhibition.
