Tom Galgano, keyboardist, vocalist, and producer for progressive rock stalwarts IZZ, will release his debut solo album, Sleepwalking in a Strange Land, on June 20. Fully self-performed and self-produced, the album spans two decades of experimental songwriting and offers a deeply personal and sonically adventurous journey.

While echoes of IZZ are most certainly noticeable, Sleepwalking in a Strange Land embraces both the melodic clarity and curiosities of Galgano’s musical instincts. It’s dreamlike, gritty, and emotional. Every sound on the album, from intricate keyboard passages to guitars and percussion, was performed by Galgano himself.

“The music of IZZ is preeminent, and just about everything I compose is with the band in mind,” Galgano explains. “However, after months of recording, mixing, and producing an IZZ album, I allow myself to experiment musically with ideas that wouldn’t necessarily be a natural fit for the band. This solo album is a collection of those experiments brought to fruition, a body of work created intermittently between 2005 and 2025.”

Sleepwalking in a Strange Land presents another side of Galgano: still rooted in IZZ, but more intimate. With over 20 years as the creative and technical backbone of IZZ, Galgano steps forward here with a distinct voice and vision, one that rewards close listening and embraces the engaging beauty of musical exploration.
