Hiraga Marika reconstructs iconic standards from the 1930s and 1940s, bringing 12 unique tracks to life with a new generation of musicians. Two years after her previous album, "Mandelcini," Hiraga's new album, "Vintage," features American standards from the 1930s and 1940s. Known for her previously focused albums on Burt Bacharach, Brazilian music, and Duke Ellington, Hiraga now tackles "Golden Age classics" by Gershwin, Cole Porter, and Jerome Kern with this concept album, featuring 12 carefully selected tracks and innovative ideas. Recorded in collaboration with pianist Hakuei Kim, the album features a new unit featuring cutting-edge musicians such as Tomokazu Sugimoto (bass).
