Horse Jumper of Love - Disaster Trick (Deluxe Edition) (2025) [Hi-Res]

The Boston indie rock trio Horse Jumper of Love, formed in 2013, is known for their patient and pummeling songs, characterized by gutting emotional intensity and arrangements that violently lurch between delicate and bludgeoning. Their latest and most uncompromising album to date, Disaster Trick, tackles themes of self-destructiveness and healing with jolting lucidity. In contrast to the quieter previous work Heartbreak Rules (2023), Disaster Trick was recorded with producer Alex Farrar and features cranked-up volume, expansive arrangements, searing guitars, and a thunderous rhythm section. Frontman Dimitri Giannopoulos noted that he drew inspiration from both "heavy" (Hum) and "gentle" (Leonard Cohen) music during the recording process. The album, which he describes as a "reflection on destructive behavior from a lens of more clarity," is dark yet contains hope and humor. A Deluxe Edition CD of Disaster Trick has recently been released, expanding the album with additional songs, b-sides, and updated track versions.
