Saagara - 3 (The Shackleton Versions) (2025) [Hi-Res]

British producer Shackleton has released a radically shapeshifting "shadow album" of versions, rather than remixes, for the acclaimed 2024 album 3 by the transnational collective Saagara. 3 became a touchstone for the tak:til label due to its unique blend of jazz clarinet and sax, Carnatic percussion from South India, and intricate electronic music. These elements reflect the evolution of Saagara's Wacław Zimpel from a jazz presence to an intriguing electronic producer who regards the studio as an instrument. 3 The Shackleton Versions stems from his request to the celebrated experimental electronicist (initially known for his groundbreaking dubstep productions) for a remix. Instead of one track, Shackleton delivered a full set that matches the drama of the original while infusing a darker atmosphere. This project, which features standout versions of "Northern Wind Brings Redemption" and "Where Is That Blossom," is an "exchange of love and respect" and a deep-dive conversation between two leading talents in contemporary experimental electronic music, uniting electronics and "global roots" in what Zimpel described as "interstellar folk."
