Award-winning New Zealand Jazz musician Hamish Smith is noted for his rhythmic inventiveness and unique groove-centric approach, having been called "one of the great young bassists in the world" by NEA Jazz Master Todd Barkan. Now based in New York, Smith has become a highly sought-after artist, collaborating with notable figures such as Paquito D’Rivera, Miguel Zenon, and The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. In addition to performing with others, he leads and composes for his own quintet and is a co-founder of the collaborative group Immigrantet with Nicola Caminiti and Juan Diego Villalobos.
