Pray-Pax - The Lolita Years (2025)

"The Lolita Years" is a new archival compilation of previously unreleased music by the duo Pray-Pax (Thierry Azam and Alain Michon), who were part of the French art collective The Lolita during the 1980s. Founded in 1981, The Lolita collective brought together artists, dancers, set designers, and musicians exploring innovative ideas and did not aim for a unified style, instead favoring a multilayered, "messy," and spectacular form specific to the group. The compilation includes soundtracks created by Pray-Pax for the group's performances and spans genres such as no wave, minimal wave, post-punk, avant-garde jazz, and DIY compositions. The music is steeped in surrealism and theatricality, documenting the singular soundworld of Pray-Pax, who were a pivotal element in The Lolita's freeform artistic activity. The collective's shows toured across Europe and Brazil between 1981 and 1989.
