Christoph Spendel - Piano Graffiti (2025)

Pianist Christoph Spendel has renamed his solo piano performance from the traditional "Piano Solo" to "Piano Graffiti" to emphasize the vibrant diversity of the music he performs. His solo concerts primarily feature his original compositions, written for various projects and recorded on media. The musical spectrum of his solo performances is broad, extending beyond simple jazz, to include elements from meditative minimal music (reminiscent of Steve Reich) and Cuban Montunos to Bill Evans-influenced jazz piano. The dynamics range from ballads to furioso, combining complex compositions with spontaneous improvisations, making the concert resemble a suite-like opus. Spendel's music is appreciated by fusion audiences, the jazz community, and classical environments. To address the issue of poor-quality instruments in venues, Spendel now travels with his own stage piano, allowing him to perform even in locations without an instrument. He is participating in the "International Jazz Day" on April 30, 2024, with his "Piano Graffiti" project, which will serve as the premiere of the solo project and will be streamed as a full-length live video on YouTube. Existing solo recordings include "Dreams And Melodies" and "The Art Of Solo Piano". The long-awaited CD "Piano Graffiti!" is scheduled for release on October 24, 2025.
