Giuliano Sorgini - Electric Spell (2025)

Giuliano Sorgini's album Electric Spell is a collection of 13 previously unreleased tracks, some of which were composed for the soundtracks of Angelo Pannacciò's erotic-intellectual B-movies, including the cult film Comincerà tutto un mattino: io donna, tu donna from 1978. The music features magnetic grooves carved out by hypnotic drum machines, ranging from slow and enveloping to fast and pulsating rhythms. Melodies played on psychedelic synths and electric organs incorporate natural sounds like birdsong, inevitably recalling Sorgini's Zoo Folle. The album encompasses themes of nature, magic, esotericism, eroticism, African cults, and mystery, finding its independent and definitive form here. Electric Spell continues the experimental philosophy of Under Pompelmo but in a more intimate, self-sufficient, and radically free way, representing a journey suspended between muzak and the avant-garde.
