Joe Seven - “These tracks first took shape between 2019 and 2020, while I was based in Melbourne and Darren was in Antwerp. Having worked together previously in London, most notably on The Binary Collective album with Consequence and Kid Drama, this time the process was entirely remote, 10,000 miles apart.
We exchanged files back and forth in Bitwig, layering ideas and refining arrangements until the tracks felt complete. Elektron gear and the Sequential OB-6 became central to the sound, alongside instruments like the UDO Super-6, ASM Hydrasynth, a vintage Korg Poly-800MKII, and countless pedals before further processing in the box.
After several years, we revisited the material. By then I was back in London and Darren was living in Thailand. I reworked the mixdowns, and Darren ran them through his outboard gear for the finishing touches. Remarkably, we were never in the same room during the entire process.
Despite a five-year gap between recording and release, the music came together seamlessly. It stands as proof of the creative connection we share — one that resonates both musically and aesthetically.”
