The Singing Loins - Camber '87 (2025)

The Singing Loins began in 1990/91 as a stripped-down acoustic duo focused on writing "honest, bare songs" in a style they dubbed 'Authentic Raw Folk from the Medway Delta'. Their first two albums were recorded with Billy Childish. Over twelve years and several albums, the line-up expanded to include banjo, mandolin, and accordion, and the band moved to Damaged Goods Records. Despite critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase in Medway and Serbia, the group ceased activity in 2013, briefly reuniting in 2019 to record what was then their final album, '13 Moon Songs from Merry Hell'. Following the passing of lead singer Chris Broderick in early 2022, surviving members Arf and Rob continued the legacy by recording the album 'The Fighting Temeraire' with Billy Childish in Broderick's memory. Further expanding their line-up to include fiddle, drums, electric guitar, and bass, The Singing Loins released the 2024 album 'Twelve', a re-recorded 'best of' of their lo-fi years. The group continues to gig regularly and also works with Billy Childish on a side project, The North Kent Folkways Revival. Their recent mini-album, 'Camber ’87', features a new song, 'Teeth & Eyes', and revisited versions of old tracks adapted to their current sound.
