Beak - Live At Zebulon (2025) [Hi-Res]

The band Beak> has released a live album that marks the end of an era: the retirement of founder Geoff Barrow from touring to focus on film production and the expansion of Invada Records. The band will continue with Will Young and Billy Fuller. The album, recorded during Barrow's final tour, blends the newest tracks from their last studio album (>>>>) with early fan favorites, showcasing the evolution of their sound from its raw, experimental origins (which included Matt Loveridge) to their current iteration, all while maintaining a core commitment to unashamed experimentation and Kosmische music. Mixed by Barrow himself, the album is intentionally unpolished, authentically capturing the atmosphere of a live show, including the moments of humor and audience interaction that are central to their concerts. The 13 tracks include krautrock-influenced songs like 'Yatton' and 'Wulfstan II', and experimental pieces like 'Windmill Hill' and 'Secrets'. Special emphasis is placed on the brilliant vocal harmonies of Barrow and Fuller, a crucial yet often overlooked element of their alternative rock sound. The album is presented as the perfect conclusion to Beak>'s "phase two" and a celebration of their body of work.
