The Misfits' new LP, their first in 14 years, successfully recreates and brings back the crunch and thrill of their classic 1982 Walk Among Us album, despite the absence of original vocalist Glenn Danzig. Produced by Daniel Rey and ferociously mixed by Andy Wallace (previously associated with Nirvana and Bad Religion), tracks like "Walk Among Us" and "The Haunting" retain the band's trademark "wooah-wooahs." Michale Graves is noted as a good fit for the difficult position of new singer, while bassist Jerry Only and guitarist Doyle (who replaced Bobby Steele and is much improved) prove they are essential to The Misfits' sound and can recreate it without Danzig. The album is suggested to be a more fitting follow-up to Walk Among Us than the hardcore Earth A.D./Wolsblood mess that effectively ended the original band's career in 1983 when Danzig left to form Sam Hain. The Misfits' return to the stage is described as a brilliant, "mega-scary" sight.
