Ghanaian musician Ata Kak (Yaw Atta-Owusu) created his debut album, "Obaa Sima," in 1994, which, despite its initial lack of success, gained a cult following online after being featured on the Awesome Tapes From Africa blog in 2006. The album is an addictive blend of left-field electronic music and Twi-language hiplife. The growing interest eventually led Ata Kak out of anonymity; he began touring globally, performing high-energy shows at major festivals like Glastonbury and Sónar. For the first time since 1994, Ata Kak has released new music, featuring songs recorded in Kumasi that showcase more ambitious compositions, layered harmonies, his signature rap, scatting, and traditional Akan harp. Ata Kak, born in Ghana in 1960, was drawn to music after his travels, which included playing drums in a reggae band in Germany and performing in highlife bands in Canada, where he recorded "Obaa Sima." Following the album's reissue in 2015, he resumed his musical career, touring three continents with a brilliant cast of London-based musicians.Title: Batakari
