Brazilian musician Sergio Sayeg, known as Sessa, has released his third album, Pequena Vertigem de Amor, in which he continues to develop his homeland-inspired, "nocturnal" and "crooked funky" sound, blending bossa nova, tropicália, and Música Popular Brasileira (MPB). Although born in Sao Paulo, Sessa discovered Brazilian music while working in New York. The influence of fatherhood is felt on the album, particularly in the first track, "Pequena Vertigem," where he lovingly addresses his son and a string quartet mimics a child's cries. The record, recorded in Sao Paulo and Brooklyn, features a rich acoustic sound with Sessa's nylon-stringed guitar, co-producer Biel Basile's percussion, Marcelo Cabral's bass, and the participation of supporting players, such as violinist Ludovica Burtone and saxophonist/flutist Filipe Nader. The lyrics reflect the artist's inclusive and optimistic worldview, such as in the tracks "Bicho Lento" and "Revolução Interior," where he sings about accepting life, the balance between sorrow and laughter, and moving toward the future.
