Krano - Le Città di Pianura (Original Soundtrack) (2025)

Musician Krano has released a double album, his first original soundtrack for Francesco Sossai’s film, Le Città di Pianura (The Last One For The Road), which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival (Un Certain Regard). The film is a bittersweet road movie about the transformation of the Venetian countryside. The soundtrack continues Krano's highly personal journey as a total outsider of the European underground. The music blends the woozy, rarefied folk style typical of the psychedelic singer-songwriter from Veneto with elements referencing the great American folk tradition of the 1970s, including Nashville looseness, Italian goth, and haunted ballads. Krano sings in dialect about 'deep' Veneto. The Le Città di Pianura OST adds a bittersweet, ghostly eeriness to his loner folk compendium, carrying the protagonists to a thin line between bliss and the abyss. Previous acclaimed works by Krano, such as Requiescat In Plavem (2016) and Lentius Profundius Suavius (2022), explored themes of loss and darkness through Americana, gothic noir, and spiritual rock 'n' roll. Critics have noted the mysterious, free-spirited nature and mystical appeal of Krano’s music, drawing comparisons to the work of Jorge Ben and Bob Dylan.
