The recording was unearthed by promoter Stephan Meyner, the artistic director of Minor Music Recording Company. This particular iteration of the James Newton Quartet for the European tour featured Geri Allen on piano, Anthony Cox on bass, and Andrew Cyrille on drums. Notably, this recording is one of the earliest in the distinguished career of Geri Allen. The musicians are highly regarded for their fluency in both jazz tradition and avant-garde modernity, with the Allen, Cox, and Cyrille trio also having recorded the acclaimed album Printmakers. The release of "Live In Willisau" is set for Fall 2025.
