Alex Baranowski - Brides (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) (2025) [Hi-Res]

The original motion picture soundtrack for the debut feature film Brides, directed by Young Vic artistic director Nadia Fall and produced by Oscar-nominated Nicky Bentham, was composed by award-winning composer Alex Baranowski. The film, inspired by the real-life story of Shamima Begum and concerning two British Muslim girls running away to join ISIS in Syria, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2025. Baranowski's score, recorded in his London studio using analogue loops and an unusual palette of instruments including an Indian harmonium and solo cello, gives the music its distinctive sound. The film, told through flashbacks from the girls' perspective to elicit empathy, explores themes of adolescent alienation, identity, and the desperate search for belonging. Alex Baranowski is a London-based composer known for his versatility across film, television, and theatre (including collaborations with Danny Boyle and a Tony Award nomination). His notable works include The Kitchen, The Windermere Children, Frauds, and numerous ballets and collaborations with musicians such as LABRINTH and The XX.
