Gareth Quinn Redmond is a leading Irish ambient musician whose work is deeply rooted in the Japanese concept of Kankyō Ongaku, or environmental music. This philosophy, inspired by the work of Satoshi Ashikawa, focuses on crafting soundscapes that seamlessly blend into the surroundings, encouraging the listener towards stillness and a deeper engagement with everyday life. In addition to his solo career, Quinn Redmond is a member of the band Throwing Shapes and has collaborated with numerous artists. His work, noted for its delicate approach to sound, has been released on respected labels such as WRWTFWW Records. On November 7th, the musician will release his latest album, Múscailte, via the label sound as language. Múscailte continues his exploration of sound, silence, and subtlety, utilizing warm analogue synthesis and the bell-like tones of the Hohner Pianet. Inspired by Hiroshi Yoshimura, the album is intended as a sound design for the soft unfolding of morning, embracing slowness and offering space for quiet contemplation.
