Ismay, Mary Gauthier, Williams Miller - Finding Lucinda: Music from the Documentary (2025) [Hi-Res]

Six years ago, the author embarked on a road trip to explore the creative journey and roots of Americana, folk, and country music legend Lucinda Williams, seeking inspiration to overcome their own creative stagnation. This journey became the basis for the documentary film, Finding Lucinda, aimed at illustrating an artist's development from their start to the creation of work that fully manifests their spirit. The project, dedicated to Williams' immeasurable influence and intuitive brilliance, evolved into a multi-year endeavor.

The accompanying record is an extension of this journey, featuring songs that vary widely across Lucinda Williams' career. It includes cover versions recorded during filming, notably one with Buddy Miller and another at the family ranch's sheep barn where the journey began. The album also features poems by Lucinda's father, the writer Miller Williams, whose straightforward style and mentorship greatly shaped her work. One poem is read by Mary Gauthier. A few tracks are live recordings that recreate a 1981 session, recorded in 2025 in the same location with the participation of long-term collaborator Charlie Sexton, members of Los Texmaniacs, and the son of the original session's fiddler.
