Citrus Citrus - In the Belly of the Eternal Draw (2025) [Hi-Res]

In the Belly of Eternal Draw is the second album by the Italian psychedelic ensemble Citrus Citrus, which is presented as a nonlinear kaleidoscope of styles and influences, contrasting with their conceptual debut. The eight-track record was primarily created through extended, collaborative improvisational sessions in isolation, where song structures emerged from collective "pulses" rather than pre-written compositions. The album deliberately avoids a single central idea, freely wandering between the robotic funk of the first single "Let It Chum," spectral jazz-rock, German kosmische musik, ambient, punk, minimalism, and folk. The second single, "Sushi Sushi," captures a tense dialogue between the Paisley Underground and the recursive patterns of krautrock. The record opens with the dark, anxiety-plunging track "Eternal Draw" and concludes with the eight-minute "Asterione"—a burst of liberation. Japanese producer and mixing engineer Yui Kimijima made a significant contribution to the final sound, while the visual design was created by illustrator Noguchi Shimura and designer Marco Venturi. The album is conceived as an escape from the illusion of a single reality, offering the listener an ambiguous multiverse where fiction is necessary.
