Langsyn (Farsight), the second album by the Scandinavian ensemble Tak For Dit Brev, is a series of "sound letters" created as a musical response to the personal experiences and inspirations of the bandleader, Simon Toldam. Toldam describes the album as a reaction to strong, lasting impressions, both uplifting and disheartening. Langsyn is a musical distillation of an evening spent at Gaarden & Gaden, where the music and atmosphere were created in close interplay with the audience, the venue's crew, and four sonic storytellers. The album's style combines the simplicity of the Scandinavian folk song tradition, the immediacy of jazz, and the sound language of contemporary music. A unique feature is that the texts on the album cover were created by the audience, family, and friends based on their associations with the word "Langsyn."
