"The Music Maker" is an extensive collection, released for the first time on vinyl by Be With Records, that features 21 exceptionally deep and soulful songs spanning the entire career of artist Jeb Loy Nichols, from his earliest works to his latest unreleased gems. Nichols himself, known for his collaborations with legends like Adrian Sherwood and Dennis Bovell, describes this music as "hand made, lo-fi, ramshackle, stripped down, real deal music... made in the kitchen, not in the studio," combining his love for country, reggae, and soul. The compilation aims to showcase Nichols' artistic brilliance, whose work blends Southern warmth with the low-end hush of dub, forming a unique and genre-defying "mongrel music" sound that earned him the nickname "the high priest of country cool" from Rolling Stone.
