Quadrature - Black Hole Blues (2025) [Hi-Res]

Quadrature is a musical group known for its electric fusion of raga, rock, jazz, and psychedelia, creating soundscapes that defy genre boundaries. The band, consisting of Neel Murgai (sitar/effects), Indofunk Satish (trumpet/effects), Tripp Dudley (drum set), and Damon Banks (bass), emerged from the Brooklyn Raga Massive jam sessions. They began with fully improvised sets rooted in ragas. In 2023, they were artists in residence at the David Rockefeller Creative Arts Center. Quadrature has performed at venues such as Globalfest at Lincoln Center and Ragas Live Festival. The band's name, derived from mathematics and astronomy, reflects their approach as the "area under the curve of raga and contemporary music," embracing odd time signatures. Leading up to their debut release, band members, including Neel Murgai, stated that the recording documents their take on raga-inspired prog rock and jazz, and their goal was to capture the energy and joy of playing together by creating music they would want to listen to themselves.
