The self-titled album by the London-based duo La Nouvelle Musique, comprising Joanna Beck (vocals, bass, composition) and Ian de Sylva (guitar), is the follow-up to their debut release on Fruits de Mer. The duo, who write, record, and produce their music independently, delivers ten original tracks and a cover of Sandy Denny's "Crazy Lady Blues." The music blends Joanna's ethereal vocals, acoustic guitar, keyboards, and exquisite harmonies, spanning genres including acid folk and progressive rock. The band's sound evokes comparisons to Sandy Denny and Judy Dyble, incorporating a cinematic psychedelic element to create gorgeous and majestic songs. The album showcases a rare beauty and excellence, ranging from hypnotic acid folk to soaring rock passages. The track "Time Ticks Slowly," previously issued on lathe-cut, is also featured on this new album.
