Maciej Czajkowski Trio is a jazz group led by pianist and composer Maciej
Czajkowski. The group's music is a combination of Scandinavian jazz approach to space, atmosphere and melody, combined with complex rhythmic and harmonic structures.
Maciej Czajkowski is a pianist and composer living in Denmark.
His piano playing is strongly influenced by European jazz as well as post-bop, the improvisational style is full of contrasts. From lonely phrases of the right hand, he can move to more polyphonic structures.
After graduating from the jazz department of the Frederic Chopin School of Music in Warsaw, he moved to Denmark to study at Syddansk Musikkonservatorium in Odense.
He is the leader of the band Maciej Czajkowski Trio with Mariusz Praśniewski on double bass and Jesper Lørup Christensen on drums.
He collaborated with, among others, ALM Trio and Massaka Storytelling Ensemble.
Mariusz Praśniewski is a Polish double bass player living in Copenhagen.
He is a graduate of Syddansk Musikkonservatorium in Odense and Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium in Aarhus.
Mariusz has been active on the Danish and European jazz and improvised music scene for over a decade. He has played with, among others, Tomasz Dąbrowski, Anders Mogensen, Gilad Hekselman, Elchin Shirinov, Jakob Kullberg and many others.
Jesper Lørup Christensen is a Danish jazz drummer and composer. He is a graduate from Syddansk Musikkonservatorium in Odense at the jazz department. During his studies, he spent a year at the Codarts University of Arts in Rotterdam, where he studied with Joost Patock and Hans van Oosterhout.
He is a drummer with a personal expression and a high artistic level, which enables him to be part of many original constellations. Over the years Jesper played many concerts both in Denmark and in Europe.
He is involved in several international projects like Donatas Petreikis Quintet, Rahel Talts Trio and Maciej Czajkowski Trio. He is also a composer and a drummer of the bands LØST and Sultenmand.
