Hamburg-based multi-instrumentalist The Offline presents his second studio album, La grande évasion ("The Great Escape"), via DeepMatter Records. Originally conceived as a sci-fi concept, the work evolved into an instrumental exploration of memory, travel, and photography themes. The album's musical palette blends 70s Anatolian rock, surf, soul, lo-fi, and psychedelic jazz. Key tracks, such as "Boulevard National" and "Nikonos V," are inspired by the atmosphere of Marseille and the aesthetics of analogue photography, evoking the sound of Khruangbin. The record combines cinematic scope with intimacy, offering the listener soundtracks for inner escapism and imagined scenes.
