Louis Durra - Mood Music (2026)

Louis Durra paints a series of portraits fit for the Night Gallery with his pen and piano, teaming with Domenic Genova/b, Jerry Kalaf/dr and guests Barry Coates/g and Sam Riney/fl. In the trio setting, he uses space and patience around Kalaf’s brushes and Genova’s resonant bass on pieces like the blue “About The Same”, slinky “You Know What” and nocturnal title piece. Coats and Riney join in for soft atmospheric pressure on “Tidal River, Mendocino” and with just the guitarist creates lily pads of pastels with a dash of Bill Evans on “Still Awake”. Durra casts a long shadow on this one.~ By George W. Harris
