Moving away from the familiar spaghetti western tropes, the collection focuses on lounge, bossa nova, and orchestral ambient textures of the 60s and 70s.

The tracklist features compositions from a wide variety of genres — from the historical drama Correva l'anno di grazia 1870 to the crime thriller Il Clan Dei Siciliani. Yet, they are all unified by a shared "dreamlike" sound: soaring strings, soft keyboard arrangements, and, naturally, the celestial vocals of the composer's muse, Edda Dell'Orso (most notably in L'abbraccio caldo della tarantola and Coiffeur pour dames). The track title Acidamente dolce ("Acidly Sweet") perfectly encapsulates the album's mood: a musical nostalgia that is both sweet and unsettling, balancing between reality and fantasy.
