The author's personal acceptance and coming out, which occurred after returning to Australia in 2019, served as a catalyst for creative freedom and self-perception. The composition "Feeling More Like" (2019) emerged from a desire to immerse in the unique sonority of the viola da gamba using layering and loop techniques; the piece premiered at the ChamberQUEER festival in 2020. Later, in collaboration with clarinetist Jason Noble, the work "Some Kinda Way" was created. Inspired by Steve Reich's instrumentation, this piece reimagines and rehabilitates previously rejected musical ideas, weaving them into a cohesive sonic tapestry.
